Grandpa turns 80 in Escondido

Grandpa Lee turned 80 years old on October 6, 2014! So of course we had to celebrate.... All of his offspring and their offspring and their offspring (that's right, he's a great grandpa!) travel to Escondido, CA (just outside of San Diego) so we could all celebrate together.

Day 1 - Friday, October 3: Toby and I make it to San Diego and meet mom at the airport. After an hour wait in the blazing sun for the rental car, we finally get wheels, pick up Morgin from the Airport and hit the road!

Check in at the resort isn't til 4. Since we had a few hours to kill, what do we do? We go skydiving!!

Lunch time! Quick stop in La Jolla for fish tacos and some beautiful beach views.

Now it's time to party! Escondido here we come. So much fun seeing all the cousins and aunts and uncles and grandparents and nieces and nephews. Family. Love them.
After pizza and plenty of booze, day 1 is complete.

Day 2 - Saturday, October 4: today is the day for the BIG party!

had a secret present ready for Grandpa.... Little did they know, I

Day 3 - Sunday, October 5: I'm not a very good sleeper... I happen to be a night owl and an early bird. After a late night at the birthday party, I still managed to wake up at 6:30am bright eyed and bushy tailed. After som major creeping on each of the rooms (seriously, I went into peoples rooms while they were sleeping.... They weren't locked so I was just snooping!), I nestled in on someone else's porch to read my book. Yay! Aunt Valerie is awake! Our search for coffee had a few detours....
Time to get beautiful! On the last day, Uncle Eric arranged a professional photographer to take the groups photos. We all wore white and it was beautiful!! Of course.... The selfie stick pictures were pretty cool too....

Unfortunately Toby and my time was cut short and it was time for us to go to the airport. Fabulous trip to celebrate Grandpa.... So glad I was able to be there. Even more glad that the whole extended family is so amazing and gets along. It's quite an achievement and a very cool legacy to pass on. Age is just a number, but family is forever.

Happy Birthday Grandpa!!
